Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

Art! Before I say anything about this album, I must say I view this project as an art piece not just an album. The way Kendrick went about this album had some similarities to his recent albums, but a lot of differences as well. I haven’t heard a rap album this year, that matches this type of storytelling. Listening to tracks like ‘Father Time’, ‘We Cry Together’, and other tracks off the album. You could almost see actors acting out the lyrics in your head while listening. A lot of the tracks on this album were needed for black men and men in general. The tracks on this album vocalized thoughts that a lot of black men wouldn’t say out loud, but needed to be said. If you haven’t yet, do yourself a favor and listen to this 18-part, 19-part if you include ‘The Heart Part 5’, miniseries disguised as an album.
